Who I am...
I was born and raised in Camden, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles and Martha Hutcheson. With the exception of my 2nd and 3rd grade years, I attended Fairview School and graduated in 1971. I was married in Louann, Arkansas, and both my daughters were born in Camden. I earned my BA in secondary education, with teaching fields in English and history, from East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas, in 1980. My teaching career included Arkansas, Texas, and Alaska public and private schools before earning my M.Ed in language arts from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 1990. I have taught every grade level from pre-kindergarten through the college/university senior level and finished my teaching career in Colorado. After earning two diplomas from the Institute for Children's Literature, I launched my full-time writing career in earnest in 2008.
The Reluctant Reader's Friend
PublishAmerica and I have shared a successful partnership since the release of my first book in 2007. WHISPERING DARKNESS (2007), ECHOING SILENCE (2008), and BECKONING SHADOWS (2009) are just the beginning of The Arkansas Oil Days Series. Because of the work I am doing with my Arkansas Oil Days Series, Cambridge Who's Who has named me Professional of the Year.
